Sadly Trent's across the USA trip ended prematurely after what sounds like some rough days. After too many hard crashes he had to call it a day. I understand that crashing a wing hard enough to break a spar is pretty rare but Trent managed it! He also had problems with the APM which didn't cope with starting and finishing points at differing altitudes.
He made the right decision to call a halt despite lots of YouTube comments urging him to press on using FPV. That option is probably not a goer, especially in the more populated East and given flying FPV when you know the surroundings well can be a challenge.
I hope Trent is able to have another go, it's a huge challenge but he has the energy to give it a good crack!
Failing that he should come to Oz, as I said in an email reply to him:
"I wish you well on your future endevours (and I know there will be more) and if you're banned from flying autonomously in the US come over here -- we have a nice wide continent with hardly any mountains, cities, power lines or restricted airspace, a sane civil aviation regulator and plenty of people to help!"
